Creature Comforts- Lifeboat

6x4x1.5

So far, during this year of the pandemic, I am finding my creative needs circling around small "craft" projects. Smaller pieces with more mixed media involved.

This little assemblage is one of those craft projects. Lifeboat started as a ball of epoxy clay. Made in Wisconsin, I wanted to enjoy creating a basic shape with a head on it. Then I added a found and cleaned turkey feather that I picked up on a prairie walk and two more heads joined the party. Lifeboat was born. The numbers 2020 are written in red beads on this boat's underside. Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, the Baha'i Faith, and Christianity all use beads as a means of devotion. The word bead is derived from the Old English bede which means a prayer. Beads are among the earliest human ornaments with African beads dating back to 10,000 BC and have been considered such powerful objects through the ages.
